Honorable Mention: Breathtaking Moment, Artist Chinlan Chang

The narrative of this unsettling painting leaves us wanting to know more. The sky and harbor dwarf three figures preparing for a photo shoot on a barnacle-encrusted corniche.  The somewhat eerie lighting and the oddly posed figures make us wonder where the groom is, and will the incoming tide spoil the bride’s gown that’s being so carefully arranged by the photographer’s assistant.  All is meticulously rendered down to the little green heron on a raft, the shine on the chain links, and the life preserver ominously close at hand.
